THE BYRNES DOWNS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION’S ANNUAL MEETING

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24TH, 2023 BEGINNING 6:30 PM

AT

BLESSED SACRAMENT CHURCH’S MEETING HALL

Our Annual Meeting, in which Officers are elected and Membership Dues are established for the coming year, is open to all Byrnes Downs residents.  However, in order to vote or run for office you need to be a member of BDNA…which is easy!

Membership is simple – go to www.byrnesdowns.org/join-us , register as a member and/or pay the $25 Membership Fee.  You may also mail or drop off a check to the Treasurer at 12 Sothel Avenue.  Only requirement?  You must live or own property in Byrnes Downs.  You only get a single vote per house, but we’ll let you figure out how you want to decide that on your own.

It’s also easy to run or nominate someone for President, Vice President, Treasurer or Secretary, please email Eleanor Anne Osteen at eastulb@gmail.com.  The only real requirement is an understanding that BDNA is not an HOA, we really just focus on preserving the residential character of the neighborhood and interests of our residents.

Although issues such as zoning are outside our purview, we can and do advocate for safer streets.   We’ll be collecting signatures to request that the City of Charleston post a uniform 20 MPH maximum speed limit in Byrnes Downs as well as place a Three-Way Stop at the Lyttleton and Yeadon intersection.

The uniform speed limit is pretty simple – we need fifteen percent or about 50 households to support that effort.  You don’t need to be a member to support that effort!

Asking for a 3 Way Stop to calm traffic on Yeadon is a bit more complicated request – so come learn about the process for yourself.

See you on the 24th if not before.

Brent, Drew, Mary, Eleanor, Kelly, Nicole and Terry
